FULL BAN OF DOGS FROM THE RECREATION GROUND, OVER ROAD,LONGSTANTON

 THE PARISH COUNCIL

INVITE YOUR VIEWS & COMMENTS

The signage on the recreation ground asks dog walkers and owners to act responsibly.

Complaints of dog waste being left on the recreation ground increased over the past 12 months. The Parish Council will be considering implementing a full ban of dogs from the recreation ground and wish to hear your views.

It is the responsibility of the dog owner or the person in charge of the dog to clear up any dog foul left by their dog. If you fail to clean up after your dog you can be issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice, or if the case goes to court a fine of up to £1000.00.
The regulations state specifically, that being unaware that the dog has fouled, or not having a suitable means of removing the faeces is not a reasonable excuse for failing to clean up after your dog.

Dog excrement can end up on shoes, clothes, hands, play equipment and at worst contamination can lead to blindness, usually in children, due to an infection called toxocara canis.
