Dear Parent

The Cricket Club provides cricketing opportunities for adults and juniors. We have two senior teams playing on Saturday afternoons from May to September in the Cambridgeshire Cricket Association leagues. Home matches take place at Longstanton Recreation Ground. Adult training sessions are held at the Recreation Ground on Tuesday evenings from April to August.

We also run cricket activities for children aged seven years and above; the emphasis is on providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere in which children can develop their skills. We also organise competitive cricket for older children from ten years old and above in the league structure managed by the Cambridgeshire Youth Cricket Association.

We currently have over 70 boys and girls as junior members. The Club has nine coaches with English Cricket Board qualifications and all our coaches and volunteers have been subject to Criminal Records Bureau checks by the ECB. The club has adopted the ECB 'Safe Hands' Welfare of Young People in Cricket Policy; details can be found on www.play-cricket.com or www.ecb.co.uk. The Club has ClubMark accreditation which is a national quality scheme that provides external independent verification that the Club is well run and provides sporting opportunities for youngsters in a safe environment.

From mid-April until mid-August there is outdoor coaching sessions on Friday evenings at the Recreation Ground where we have a full range of practice facilities.  All sessions start at 6.30 and finish at 8.00, following which there is a BBQ.

In 2007 we ran junior teams for the Under-10, Under-11, Under-12, Under-14 and under-15 age groups. Matches take place at Longstanton and other clubs in the area, starting at 6.00 on weekday evenings and generally finishing between 8.30 and 9.00. In addition there is an Under-17 team that plays in a Transition League on Sunday afternoons.
